Grade 2 Titanium Strip for Welded Tube, Stamping, and Continuous Forming
Grade 2 titanium strip is commonly used as continuous feedstock for downstream welding, stamping, and forming. Chalco Titanium can supply full coils, slit coils, and the required delivery condition according to the customer's actual processing route, helping the strip fit more directly into existing production lines.
Grade 2 Strip / Skelp for Titanium Welded Tube
Grade 2 titanium coil can be slit to the specified width and used as strip / skelp feedstock for titanium welded tube production:
Cold-Rolled Titanium Coil → Slitting → Roll Forming → Longitudinal Welding → Sizing → Finished Tube
For continuous welded tube production, strip straightness, slit-edge condition, surface quality, and coil consistency matter in addition to thickness and width, as they can affect feeding, roll forming, and weld-seam fit-up.
For welded tube projects, provide finished tube OD, wall thickness, required strip width, and production method. We can use this information to confirm a suitable strip specification and supply condition.
Titanium Strip for Stamping and Continuous Forming
Grade 2 combines corrosion resistance with good ductility, making it suitable for continuous stamping, bending, and thin-wall component forming.
For long-term volume production, customers typically consider not only Grade 2 compliance but also consistency in thickness, flatness, surface condition, and material condition to reduce process adjustments between batches.
Chalco Titanium can supply full coils or slit coils to specified widths based on the component manufacturing process and confirm the delivery condition according to actual forming requirements.
Slitting and Further Processing
Customers with in-house slitting, blanking, rerolling, or further processing capability can purchase Grade 2 full coils directly.
Customers with further processing capability can carry out subsequent slitting, blanking, rerolling, or component fabrication according to their own production plans.

Grade 2 Titanium Strip Quality: From Material Standard to Cold Rolling and Slitting
For Grade 2 titanium strip used in welded tube, stamping, and continuous forming, ASTM B265 provides the material acceptance basis. Stable volume production also requires attention to thickness and dimensional consistency, slit-edge condition and flatness, surface quality, and consistency of material condition.
Chalco Titanium incorporates these requirements throughout cold rolling, annealing, finishing, slitting, and final inspection. Our cold-rolling capability covers both conventional and thin-gauge titanium strip, with multi-high and 20-high rolling equipment available for thin-gauge processing.
Cold Rolling and Annealing
Cold rolling is used to achieve the target thickness and strip dimensions. Intermediate and final annealing are selected according to the reduction ratio, applicable standard, and downstream forming requirements to achieve the required material condition.
For welded tube, stamping, and similar applications, the final delivery condition is confirmed according to the actual downstream process rather than nominal thickness alone.
Slitting and Surface Control
Full coils can be slit to the ordered width for direct use in welded tube production, continuous stamping, or further processing.
In addition to final width, slit-edge condition and strip running stability also need to be considered during slitting. For applicable specifications, Grade 2 titanium strip surface roughness can be confirmed within Ra 0.08–0.50 μm.
Inspection and Material Documentation
Before shipment, the following items can be confirmed according to order requirements:
- Thickness, width, and dimensional tolerances;
- Surface condition, including scratches, oxidation, and indentations;
- Slit width and edge quality;
- Tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation;
- Material grade, batch, and material documentation.
For repeat orders, key acceptance requirements can be fixed in the initial order so that subsequent batches are produced and verified to consistent technical requirements.
What Information Is Needed for a Grade 2 Titanium Strip Quote?
To evaluate specifications and production feasibility more efficiently, please provide:
Applicable Standard + Thickness + Width + Full Coil / Slit Coil + Surface Requirement + Quantity + End Use
For welded tube projects, you may also provide finished tube OD, wall thickness, and target strip width. For stamping and forming projects, please include the main forming process and surface requirements.
For projects with an existing purchasing specification, drawings, material specifications, or the current Strip Specification can be sent directly for review.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Grade 2, TA2, and TA2G titanium strip exactly the same material?
No. ASTM Grade 2, TA2, and TA2G all belong to commercially pure titanium systems, but composition limits and acceptance requirements differ among standards. Final procurement should be confirmed against the specified standard and material documentation.
Can Chalco Titanium supply 0.06 mm Grade 2 thin titanium strip?
Yes. A thickness of 0.06 mm is within our current Grade 2 cold-rolling capability. For orders near the minimum thickness, width, surface condition, quantity, and specific inspection requirements should be confirmed together.
What information is required for Grade 2 titanium strip used in welded tube production?
Please provide at least the finished tube OD, wall thickness, strip thickness, target slit width, and production method. These details help us evaluate whether the strip / skelp dimensions and coil supply condition match the existing tube-making process before quotation.
How can the quality of different Grade 2 titanium strip batches be verified?
Quality can be verified through dimensional inspection, surface inspection, mechanical properties, and batch material documentation. For long-term repeat orders, key acceptance items can be fixed during the initial order so that subsequent batches are produced and verified to consistent technical requirements.
