Titanium and Titanium Alloy Thin Wall Tube
Titanium Thin Wall Tube is becoming a key material choice for many high-end industries in applications that require light weight, high strength and corrosion resistance. Its excellent specific strength, heat resistance and biocompatibility make it widely used in aerospace, medical equipment, automobiles, sports equipment, electronic chemicals and other fields.
Compared with conventional metal materials, titanium thin-walled tubes can not only significantly reduce the weight of the structure, but also have good processing formability and long-term stability. Chalcotitanium provides titanium thin-walled tubes in various specifications and grades, supporting seamless or welded structures, precision cut-to-length cutting and a variety of surface treatment options to meet the diverse needs from small batch prototypes to large-scale mass production.

Five major technical difficulties in the production and processing of titanium alloy thin-walled tubes
Titanium alloy thin-walled tubes are widely used in scenarios with extremely high requirements for precision, surface quality, and airtightness due to their high strength, light weight, and corrosion resistance, such as aviation hydraulic systems, medical catheters, and chemical precision equipment. However, its manufacturing and processing are much more complicated than ordinary metal tubes.
1. Thin-wall processing is difficult: easy to deform and break
Titanium alloy itself has a low elastic modulus, strong deformation resistance and a narrow processing window. Especially when the tube wall is less than 0.5mm, it is very easy to have problems such as flattening, cracking, and inward folding.
Chalcotitanium optimizes the parameters of the cold rolling/cold drawing process, and cooperates with medium frequency annealing and online straightening equipment to ensure uniform wall thickness, stable size and high roundness of the pipe.
2. Difficult surface treatment: easy to oxidize, discolor, and pollute
Titanium is highly sensitive to oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen. If the heating or processing process is not properly controlled, a contamination layer will easily form on the surface, affecting weldability, service life and aesthetics.
Chalcotitanium uses a closed protective atmosphere annealing furnace and a multi-stage pickling process to ensure that the pipe has a clean and uniform metallic surface, meeting the high cleanliness standards of medical and aerospace applications.
3. High precision cutting and sizing requirements
Thin-walled titanium tubes are very likely to produce burrs, deformation or heat-affected zones during cutting, which will affect subsequent welding or assembly.
Chalcotitanium is equipped with an automatic laser/knife cutting system and a non-contact length measurement system, which can achieve a cutting accuracy within ±0.5mm and provide cut-to-length services on demand.
4. High quality welding is difficult
Titanium has extremely high requirements for atmosphere protection during welding, and thin-walled structures are more likely to burn through or form microcracks, affecting structural safety.
Chalcotitanium is equipped with automatic TIG welding and plasma welding equipment, and strictly controls the purity of argon gas and the gas hood protection area to ensure that the weld is clean and airtight, which can meet the requirements of pressure system use.
5. personalized processing such as head sealing, flaring, threading, etc.
Customers often need to add caps, flare, weld joints or make mechanical connections on titanium tubes, but titanium has poor machinability and conventional methods are difficult to achieve high precision or difficult to clamp.
Chalcotitanium has extensive experience in forming/connection processing and can provide a variety of solutions including head forming, customized welding accessories, micro-hole tapping, etc. to help customers simplify the back-end assembly process. Quick Quote
