Recommended use:
If your Grade 2 titanium flat bar is cold drawn/cold rolled (e.g. for precision applications, medical or instrument parts requiring high dimensional accuracy), you can use this table as a dimensional control standard.
If the material is heat treated, pickled after heat treatment, or has special hardness/performance requirements, the tolerance is usually twice the value in the table.
Surface treatment of Grade 2 titanium flat bar
Pickled
A pickling process removes the surface oxide scale, revealing a uniform silver-grey matte finish. This finish is widely used in chemical equipment, welded components, and medical stents, helping to improve corrosion resistance and weldability.
Sand blasted
Sandblasting further removes residual oxides, creating a fine, matte finish that improves adhesion and visual consistency. It's commonly used in applications such as ship parts and support frames, where both durability and appearance are crucial.
Polished
Fine polishing can make the surface of titanium flat bar reach Ra ≤ 0.8 μm. The mirror effect is suitable for applications with high cleanliness and high aesthetics, such as medical equipment, food equipment, and optical platforms.
Anodized
Under specific customer requirements, titanium flat bars can also be anodized to form a denser oxide film, further improving corrosion resistance and surface hardness. At the same time, they have a certain decorative effect and can be selected in colors such as natural titanium gray, gold, and blue.
Different production process types
Hot rolled titanium flat bar
The most common production method is to heat the titanium ingot and then roll it into shape through multiple passes. It has low cost and high efficiency.
Thickness: 3 – 40 mm, Width: 10 – 200 mm, Length: 1000 – 6000 mm
Forged titanium flat bar
The titanium billet is repeatedly forged into the required flat cross-section through forging equipment, with dense structure and uniform mechanical properties.
Thickness: 15 – 60 mm, Width: 50 – 200 mm, Length: 300 – 1500 mm
Cold worked titanium flat bar
The hot-rolled blank is processed at room temperature through straightening, drawing, finishing and other steps to improve dimensional accuracy and surface quality.
Thickness: 1 – 20 mm, Width: 10 – 100 mm, Length: ≤ 3000 mm (support required)
Selection recommendations
- For cost control and general structural parts → choose hot-rolled flat bars.
- For large stress, mechanical load, or post-weld stability → choose forged flat bars.
- For high dimensional accuracy and surface quality → choose cold-worked flat bars.
