Grade 2 (R50400) Titanium Square Bar
Grade 2 titanium square bar, also known as CP (Commercially Pure) Grade 2 Square Bar, is a solid square cross-section bar made from pure titanium (UNS R50400). It offers excellent corrosion resistance, moderate strength, good weldability, and fabricability.
Looking for corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and easy-to-machine titanium alloy square bar? Our Grade 2 titanium square bar conforms to ASTM B348 and is in stock, cut to length, and shipped worldwide. Full material certification and traceability are provided.
Why choose Grade 2 titanium square bar?
- The corrosion rate in natural seawater is less than 0.00013mm/year, and it can resist corrosion from chlorides, moisture and various chemical media for a long time.
- Tensile strength ≥ 345 MPa, yield strength ≥ 275 MPa, and the density is only 4.51 g/cm³, achieving a balance between lightness and structural performance.
- The material hardness is moderate (Brinell hardness ≤ 80 HRB), easy to perform conventional machining such as turning, milling, drilling, etc.
- It supports multiple welding methods such as TIG and MIG. No preheating is required during the welding process, and the joint performance is stable and reliable.
- The relative magnetic permeability is less than 1.00005, and the material is completely non-magnetic, making it suitable for high-end equipment that is sensitive to magnetic interference.
- It has passed ISO 10993 biocompatibility certification and is suitable for use in human contact equipment and precision instrument components.

Tolerance reference
To ensure dimensional accuracy and downstream processing compatibility, the Grade 2 Titanium Square Bars supplied by Chalco Titanium are inspected and tolerance controlled in accordance with the international standard ASTM B348-06a after hot rolling, forging or extrusion.
- Hot-rolled titanium square bars with a side length of 25.4 mm (1″) shall have a dimensional tolerance of ±0.25 mm and a squareness deviation of no more than 0.38 mm;
- For smaller sizes such as 12.7 mm (1/2″), the dimensional tolerance is controlled within ±0.18 mm, and Out-of-Square ≤ 0.25 mm.

Dimensional tolerances for cold-worked titanium square bars
According to Table 8 of ASTM B348-06a, the permissible deviation for the side length of cold-worked titanium square bars (e.g., turned, drawn, and finished square bars) is a single-sided negative tolerance. This means the material must not be excessively thick, but a slight reduction in size is permitted. The larger the size, the greater the permissible tolerance, which aligns with the material stability characteristics of the cold drawing and finishing processes.
- For cold-worked Grade 2 titanium square bars with a side length of 25 mm, the maximum dimensional error allowed is –0.10 mm;
- The precision-drawn square bar with a side length of 50 mm has a tolerance range of +0 / –0.16 mm and is more suitable for structural parts with high assembly and fitting precision requirements.
| Specify side length range (in. / mm) | Dimensional tolerance (mm) |
|---|---|
| > ½″ to 1″ (12.70 – 25.40 mm) | +0, –0.10 mm (–0.004″) |
| > 1″ to 2″ (25.40 – 50.80 mm) | +0, –0.16 mm (–0.006″) |
| > 2″ to 3″ (50.80 – 76.20 mm) | +0, –0.20 mm (–0.008″) |
| > 3″ (>76.20 mm) | +0, –0.25 mm (–0.010″) |

Gr2 titanium square bar FAQ
What is the difference between Grade 2 and Grade 5 titanium square bars?
Grade 2 is pure titanium, offering greater corrosion resistance and improved workability. Grade 5 is a titanium alloy, offering increased strength but a higher price. Grade 2 is more suitable for applications in seawater or chemical environments.
What are the surface treatment methods?
We can provide peeling, pickling, sandblasting, fine polishing, centerless grinding and other treatments to meet different precision and appearance requirements.
Can titanium square rods be used for welding?
Grade 2 titanium has excellent weldability and is suitable for various welding methods such as TIG, MIG, and plasma welding. It is recommended to use high-purity argon protection.
How is the price of titanium square bar calculated?
The price of titanium square bars depends on the side length, length, quantity, processing requirements (such as cutting or grinding), and delivery location. If you require a detailed quote, please provide the specifications and delivery location, and we will send a detailed quote within 12 hours.
What is the minimum order quantity for titanium square bars?
We offer low minimum order quantities (MOQs) for standard stock sizes, cut to order, with a minimum order of one piece, making it ideal for prototypes or small-batch projects. For custom sizes or processing requirements, the minimum order quantity is typically 1–5 pieces, with flexible arrangements available. Contact us to purchase titanium square bars directly, with global shipping available.
How long is the lead time for custom processing?
If cutting, chamfering, punching, surface treatment and other processing are required, the delivery time is usually 5-12 working days, depending on the complexity of the process and the inventory of raw materials.
