Titanium Hex Bar

Titanium hex bars in full stock. Compliant with ASTM B348 / AMS 4928. Grade 2, 5, 23 available. Cut-to-length with free samples.

Titanium hex bar is a titanium alloy bar with a hexagonal cross-section. It has the advantages of light weight, high strength, corrosion resistance, and good dimensional stability. It is widely used in aviation, medical, oil and gas, chemical industry, sports equipment and other fields.

We offer mainstream titanium alloy hexagonal bars such as Grade 2, Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V), and Grade 23 (ELI) in a full range of sizes. We can cut and customize them to meet standards such as ASTM B348 / AMS 4928 / ASTM F136.

Standards

  • ASTM B348
  • AMS 4928
  • AMS 4930
  • ASTM F136
  • ISO 5832-2 / ISO 5832-3
  • GB/T 2965
  • EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2

Our titanium hexagonal bars comply with international quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100 Rev D, and ISO 13485. We can also meet specific industry certifications such as NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, PED 2014/68/EU, REACH, and RoHS upon request. We also provide original English material certificates, batch traceability documentation, and third-party test reports.

Why are customers keen on Titanium Hexagonal Bars?

Stable structure and high torque transmission efficiency

The hexagonal cross-section design offers stronger anti-slip torque performance than round bars, making it suitable for fasteners, valve stems, connecting rods, and other components subjected to high torque loading. It can be directly thread rolled, nut turned, and punched, eliminating the need for secondary milling and saving processing steps.

High strength and light weight, replacing steel hexagonal bars and reducing weight by 40%+

Grade 5, for example, boasts a yield strength of 828 MPa, only 60% the density of carbon steel. This allows components such as hexagonal studs and couplings to be thinned by 15–30% in aviation, racing, and high-end machinery, resulting in lighter structures and lower loads.

No need for anti-corrosion coating, long-term maintenance-free operation

In a 3.5% sodium chloride (NaCl) solution, the pitting potential of Gr2 titanium hexagonal rods exceeds +1.7 V (SCE), far superior to 316L stainless steel (+0.3 V). Even in long-term high-salt, high-humidity environments, no additional protective layer or cathodic protection is required, and the service life is ≥10 years.

High surface finish, can be assembled directly after processing

The surface of titanium hexagonal bar can be finely ground to Ra ≤ 0.4 µm, making it suitable for medical implant connectors and precision assembly structures. It also supports processes such as anodizing and polishing to meet the dual requirements of appearance and cleanliness.

Flexible size and strong versatility

The opposite-side dimensions of hexagonal bars range from 6–100 mm, and can be customized to any length (minimum order size is 50 mm). They are suitable for CNC machining, lathe rolling, drilling, milling and other processes, and are widely used in full-size segments from small experimental parts to industrial-grade components.

Life cycle cost (LCC) is very advantageous

Although initially priced higher than stainless steel, titanium hexagonal bars significantly reduce maintenance frequency and downtime in heavily corrosive environments. For example, on an offshore platform or chemical plant, titanium components can be replaced and maintained one to two times over five years, saving over $500,000 USD per project. The total cost is significantly lower than traditional materials.

Cost comparison of titanium hexagonal bar vs. stainless steel hexagonal bar

Cost factors Stainless steel hexagonal bar (316L) Titanium Hexagonal Rod (Grade 2 / 5) Comparative Analysis
Material unit price Lower About 4–6 times that of 316L High initial investment in titanium
Corrosion life (seawater/chemical) Pitting and perforation may occur in 1–2 years ≥10 years of zero corrosion Titanium requires almost no corrosion maintenance
Maintenance cost (10 years) High frequency replacement + anti-corrosion treatment No coating required + no replacement required Titanium has better life cycle costs
Total expenditure (10 years) Looks cheap, but is actually more expensive High investment, low maintenance Titanium is more suitable for long-term investment customers

Seemingly low-priced stainless steel often fails due to corrosion and requires frequent maintenance, resulting in long-term total expenditures far higher than titanium alloys, which have a higher one-time investment but are maintenance-free.

Titanium hexagonal rod frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What is the minimum order quantity?

We support small batch purchases, with a minimum order of 1 for some in-stock specifications. We welcome purchases for proofing, small batch repairs, or experimental purposes.

Can you provide free samples?

Chalco Titanium can provide small-sized samples (e.g., 50–100 mm) and only the express shipping fee will be borne by the customer. Larger-sized samples can be used to offset the purchase price.

What surface finishes are available?

The default surface finish is lathe-polished or pickled, with a roughness of approximately Ra 3.2 µm. Sandblasting, polishing, anodizing, and other treatments can be added upon request to meet cleanliness or decorative requirements.

Do you support custom sizes or special processing?

Yes. We can customize the edge size, length, chamfering, drilling, etc. according to customer drawings or parameter requirements. It is suitable for pre-processing of precision parts.

Is titanium hexagonal bar easy to process?

Titanium has good machinability and is suitable for CNC machining, turning, tapping, etc. It is recommended to use titanium-specific tools, low speed, high feed, and keep it cool to ensure tool life.

What material reports or certifications can you provide?

Each batch of products can be accompanied by an EN 10204 3.1 material certificate and supports third-party testing by SGS and TÜV. Our products comply with standards such as ASTM B348 and AMS 4928, and all export documentation is complete.
